FAQ's

  • What is permanent jewelry?
Permanent jewelry pieces from social links are custom, chain-based bracelets, anklets, or necklaces sized just for you and welded together with a jump ring. Because the jewelry has no clasp, it's considered permanent! We use high quality, skin-friendly materials that are made to hold up to normal wear. It’s not something you take on and off when you go to bed or shower, but it can be removed if and when desired.
  • Does it hurt?
Not at all! Permanent jewelry is a painless & safe process of welding the metal, creating a sized-to-fit bracelet or necklace.
  • Is it safe?
Absolutely! We use top-of-the-line welders which are designed with safety in mind. All social links team members are expertly trained and take all needed precautions to make sure it is safe for you and for us!
  • How long does it take?
We like to allow 15 minutes for each appointment. We kindly ask that you arrive on time as this will give us enough time to sanitize, select chain, custom fit, and then lock in your links on you new favorite piece!
  • What are the chains made of?
Our chains are made of sterling silver, 14k gold filled, or 14k - meaning they are durable for everyday wear and can last a lifetime.
  • How long will my permanent jewelry last?
Your permanent jewelry can last weeks, months, years - as long as you want! Keep in mind, while your social links jewelry is meant for everyday wear, it is still fine jewelry and not invincible!
  • How many pieces can I get in one appointment?
We can weld up to 3 pieces on the same person under 1 appointment slot, if you would like to get more than 3 pieces, you will need to book 2 appointments for yourself. Please remember that each person needs to have their own appointment time.
  • What if I need to remove my social links jewelry?
You can simply cut the jump ring used to weld the chain together with nail clippers or sharp scissors. Save it all in a safe place to be re-welded at one of our future events.
  • What if I need to get an x-ray or an MRI?
We recommend that you speak with your doctor and ask if you will need to remove your social links jewelry during your x-ray or MRI appointment. Many of our clients have not been required to remove their permanent jewelry but that is up to the discretion of your doctor. If you are required to remove your social links jewelry, simply cut the jump ring and store everything including the jump ring in a safe place. We will gladly re-weld it on you for our $10 service fee at any of our future events. Just send us a message when you are ready to re-weld your piece back on.
  • Do you offer repairs or adjustments?
Repairs and re-welds of our pieces start at $10.
  • What happens if my chain breaks or gets lost?
We ensure your piece is fully welded on you and there are no issues with the chain on the day of your appointment. If enough pressure is applied to the chain or if it gets caught somewhere, the chain can break. Get in touch with us if you need a repair. We will inspect the chain before re-welding it on you and make sure there are no issues with the chain. Most repairs are $10 but if the integrity of the chain has been compromised or if it has overstretched then you will need to purchase a new chain. We don't offer replacements on broken or lost pieces. If your piece is lost you will need to purchase a replacement.
  • Is there a required age to get permanent jewelry?
Short answer - yes! Anyone 18 and older is welcome to get a permanent piece. We require anyone ages 12 - 17 to have a parent or guardian present. We do not offer permanent pieces to children under the age of 12. The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act outlines strict regulations with regard to jewelry for children. Among many other regulations, the Consumer Product Safety Commission recognizes ASTM F2923 'Standard Specification for Consumer Product Safety for Children's Jewelry' as an industry best practice. Notably, Toxicity Specifications relating to material contents (poisonous mystery metal) and Mechanical Specifications (risk of tissue damage, strangulation etc.) regarding the physical characteristics of jewelry that can pose risk of injury to children. Simply put, the CPSIA protects children from poisonous mystery metal and bodily harm from poorly made goods. We purchase from trusted suppliers that do provide Safety Data Sheets for materials we use, rest assured - the quality of our materials is not at risk of non-compliance. However, we consider ourselves to operate with abundance of common sense and caution - so it’s easy to say 'no' to Permanent Jewelry for kids under the age of 12. As an aside, we reserve the right to decline permanent piece service to anyone, for any reason.
  • Can I go through TSA at the airport?
Quick answer - yes! TSA shouldn't require you to remove fine jewelry when going through security. You should have no problem taking your jewelry along with you on all your travel adventures. That being said, we advise you to follow all TSA requirements and rules at all times. Should TSA require you to remove your social links jewelry, we'd be happy to re-weld your piece for $10 at any of our future events or pop-ups.
  • Can I wear my piece in the shower, pool, ocean, etc?
Of course - that's the fun of jewelry you never have to take off! Our chains are meant to go through all of life’s fun adventures with you. We have found that sterling styles are prone to oxidation after exposure to pools or hot tubs that are improperly chemically balanced. A gentle wipe with a polishing cloth, or quick scrub with a baking soda/water paste and soft brush is all that is required to restore the original sterling shine.
  • Who should NOT get permanent jewelry?
We recommend that anyone with a pacemaker, or history of allergy to nickel or precious metals not get a permanent piece.
  • Will it tarnish?
We use high quality materials for our permanent jewelry. Sterling Silver will tarnish, but in most cases is able to be cleaned. We recommend avoiding sulphur pools, tanning cream and any other chemicals that would harm non-permanent semi-fine jewelry
  • Can you accommodate a group?
Of course! Sororities, bridal parties, women's groups, BFFs, family gatherings, birthdays, bachelorettes and other groups are perfect for this! We've even been asked to a wedding where the bride and groom offered social links jewelry as a deluxe favor! We'd love to chat about your ideas for your next event or gathering!
  • I got a piece from another place and it broke; will you fix it?
Short answer - yes! Just contact us and include photos and the original material and we’ll see what we can do. Depending on the chain, we may or may not have the materials to repair pieces from other vendors, but we’ll try our best! A small fee will be owed depending on the repair needed, but shouldn't be more than $15.
